Veronica Explains FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Veronica.
Who are you?
I am Veronica! I do nerdy videos and build creative things. See my about page for more info.
How old are you?
I was born sometime between the Commodore 64 and the Amiga 500.
Can I hire you to help with my computer?
Probably not. At this time, I am not seeking development or administrative consulting jobs. That includes one-off "hey, can you help install Linux on my computer?" jobs.
If you were a former client of mine, and you have a question or would like to chat about something we did together, I'm certainly interested in talking, and my details can be found on my contact page.
Why don't you talk about COBOL more?
Short answer: it's boring. Here's the long answer:
I have a sneaking suspicion that COBOL videos wouldn't do well. I would have to keep things so generalized that it wouldn't be useful, or so specific that it wouldn't apply to many people. COBOL has a lot of nuance between compilers, platforms, and eras, and I just don't think that nuance will be rewarded in a video format.
Plus, I have enjoyed not doing COBOL things. For a few years of my life, I lived and breathed codebases older than I am. It was interesting... for a while. But I'm just really not motivated by it anymore.
Can I hire you to speak at my school or work event?
Yes! Absolutely!
I've been doing more speaking engagements over the last couple of years, and I love them and want to do many, many more of them. Hit up my contact page for details.
Didn't you have a merch store?
I ran a merch store for years, and it was a great way to help support the channel. I plan to start one up again... someday.
I took the merch store offline in mid-2026 to focus my energy on creating videos and blog posts, in the midst of global affairs causing dropshipping prices to become... complex? Is that a nice way to put it?
When I relaunch the merch store, I want to rethink it. Getting away from the dropshipping idea and seeking out local labor to help me make it happen.
Plus, I ran the merch store on WooCommerce, and I'm interested in trying out alternatives to that platform. That's going to take some research, and to be honest, I just want to focus on other things for now.
I believe the old merch store is settled as of writing. But if you ordered something and didn't receive it, please email me at ask (at) this domain with your order number and a description of what you ordered, and I'll dig into it.
What song is that in your outro?
I wrote and recorded it! It's called "Littlest Punk". Maybe someday I'll record a full length version.
